I got into RPGs through the 1982 Swedish translation of Basic Roleplaying 1.0 plus Magic World. The latter is an 18-page pamphlet covering all you needed to place general RPG rules in a Medieval Fantasy setting. Including a two-page dungeon scenario and a page of pregens! These people are named:

* Havnor the Strong
* Sangor the Sorceror
* Rugbel the Rogue
* Sherl the Sage
* Endras the Adventurer

Men om ni tar på er gummistövlar och går på remsan av sjöbotten som blottats, då kommer ni att kunna hitta tidigare okända offerplatser från sten- och bronsåldern: slagen flinta, yxor och annat, som gärna får komma med i Fornminnesregistret genom en kort anmälan till Länsstyrelsen. Kolla särskilt vid åarnas in- och utlopp.

Tomorrow I'm manning a door at a Non-Fic Festival for the Writers' Union. Serious business: they've told me to wear a suit jacket! I usually only do that when serving as a layman judge or at funerals. #Fashion historians, take note of this data point: 53-y-o man in 2026 with Leftie opinions and a halting academic career believes that the suit jacket is an alien thing, associated with businesspeople and politicians. Not to mention the necktie!

In Sweden, public bodies can pay someone to make a colourful painting for them. If it's labelled as "art", then it's more expensive and the buyer is legally prohibited from making any demands on what the painting should depict. If the same painting is labelled as "decoration", it's cheaper and you can instruct the painter in detail. But public bodies are required to buy "art". I'm an archaeologist. I work with wordless things. I think this is a ridiculous distinction. #art

Some guy toots a link to a video and adds only "Everybody must watch this video", and somebody else re-toots the toot. But guys -- the rest of us can't see what the video is about. We just get those five words and an uninformative clickable URL. I sure as fuck ain't clicking.
